Easter Weekend
We had a fun-filled Easter weekend with all of the typical things that I think just about everyone does for this holiday. The hunt, the Easter dinner, the family picture, etc…
We failed majorly at one of these; the family picture. Since this was our first Easter with a baby I wanted it to be a good one. We were dressed in our Sunday best, but of course left church early because Ollie was being a total butt. By the time we got home we were ravaged for food so we got in our sweats and ate lunch. There was no way I was going to put my dress back on let alone convince Taylor that he should put his suit on. Even though we weren't dressed up I was convinced that we were still going to get a good picture.
I had my mom take a few shots and as I scrolled through the photos I thought to myself "Welp, maybe next year."
Ollie started to get the idea of how an Easter egg hunt worked. With help from Grandpa he was able to pick up eggs and place them in his basket.

My Little Monster is 1!!!
My baby is one!!! Unreal.
Ollie loves dogs, wagon rides, screaming, his Grandpa and black beans.
He just cut his first 2 teeth this week.
No desire to walk yet, this baby loves to be held by his mama and dada.
He is so mischievous, getting into every little thing that he shouldn't.
And he gives the best slobbery kisses.
We went with a "little monster" theme for his birthday, gotta thank Pinterest of course.
Please excuse my Dad's head.

Back On Track
I stepped on the scale the other day, and then went downstairs and threw away the chocolate chips and marshmallows. I have pretty much weaned Ollie off of breastfeeding and am struggling with my portion control now. For almost 2 years I've been pregnant or breastfeeding so I was able to eat whatever I wanted (and I did!!). It's time to retrain my brain and get back on track! Whenever I have realizations like these about my weight/diet I turn to my 8 week Be Healthy Challenge, which was introduced to me by my mom.
The reason why I love this Challenge is because it's not a diet in that I'm restricted in what I can and can't eat. You give yourself points based on certain things you do such as drinking 64 oz of water or having 3 servings of veggies daily. Normally you do this Challenge with other people and you compare points at the end and give a prize to the winner (my mom won this last year with some friends and got $100!). I posted what Week 1 looks like but you can go to this link and see all 8 weeks.
These homemade popsicles may look like chocolate to you, but think again, they are Spinach Berry popsicles and they were awesome. Baby approved!
Fortunately I was able to get the spinach I needed before he got to it
Ok so our fitness has been pretty low key with taking Ollie on walks through our neighborhood, gotta start somewhere right?
I was grabbing a few items in Whole Foods today and was so excited when I saw these Tram Bars. This energy bar was created in my home town and when I moved away I had completely forgot about them. I guarantee this is the absolute best energy bar you will ever eat. Everything is organic--no GMO's baby! Try one.

California Dreamin'
I find myself getting to a point in the winter where I just need to get in my car or a plane and get the heck out of Utah. That happened this week. Off we went to Newport Beach with my folks and siblings. I thought that i considered myself a semi-expert in flying with a baby since I lugged my child to Thailand, which was a 22 hour flight one way. Welp, that hour and a half flight to California proved not to be the case. It was awful. Tantrums, screaming, crying, barfing…you name it. I was able to capture one silent moment as Ollie slept in my arms with a Biscoff Cookie completely covering his face.
Since we arrived on Sunday morning, we were able to attend the Newport Hills Ward. We picked a great weekend to be there because all of the missionaries serving in that area did a musical program for sacrament and it was beautiful. As I was listening to the music and testimonies I found myself looking at the cover of the program. Jesus Christ was depicted on the front, and it got me to thinking. A lot of times I see pictures of our Prophet on the cover of a ward program and it worries me a bit because if an investigator were to come to our church and look at the program, they would see the picture of our Prophet and think "Oh, this must be the person they worship." To my non-Mormon friends out there, let me make it clear that we worship Jesus Christ, but we do look to our Prophet for counsel and guidance which he receives from God.
Most of our trip was spent lounging at the pool
I swear every other car that drove by us was a Tesla, so we went to the dealership to see what all the hype was about with these electric cars. Ollie was a fan.
Right before taking us to the airport we went to Balboa Island to check things out, that lasted all of 6 minutes since it was sooooo windy.
